3/21 NCHC Underwater Acoustics Conference

Underwater Acoustics (UA) is one of the important research fields in acoustics and is getting more and more attention over the past few years.

The monitoring of underwater acoustics serves multiple purposes in various areas, such as preservation of marine ecosystems for underwater mammals, maritime industries, mineral exploration, food industry, transportation and recreation industries, object detection, to name a few. The research as well as industrial exploration of underwater acoustics impose great challenges for both people and the health of the underwater and coastal environment.

Over the years, modern supercomputing, followed by AI adventure, has explored various scientific and engineering applications. And yet, especially in Taiwan, the adoption of modern computing technologies by the underwater acoustics research is not properly addressed. It is the purpose of this initiative, to form the community, to promote the research activities of UA adopting modern computing technologies, and to join force the academia marine experts and the computing specialists to explore the future possibility of underwater acoustics research.
