The Minister of Science and Technology Liang-Gee Chen also stated that this is the first inter-ministerial cooperation project between the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, hoping to tap the power of science and technology, create cultural value, and meet the needs of the humanities. Many old buildings that do not exist are reborn through images, and they can "look at the thing and think of the history" and make human imagination more vigorous. It is hoped that with the participation of the NCHC, National Applied Research Laboratories, and the team of instrument and technology center, we can help more domestic artists to innovate the form of performance and media, and science and technology will also have new thinking, new presentation, create new industries and output value under the cultural injection.
The NCHC, National Applied Research Laboratories, is one of the primary execution teams of the project, assisting the “Taiwan Digital Asset Library (TDAL)" to complete 100 digital models, of which 28 are Taiwan buildings, of which 26 are existing buildings, including representative buildings from all over Taiwan, such as: the Siluo Bridge and Bopiliao Historical Block. Fortress San Domingo in Danshui, Grand Hotel, Taipei 101 and Taiwan Literature Museum, in addition, we have rebuilt two historical scenes that no longer exist, such as "Ju Yuan Department Store" and "Chung-Hua Market Bazaar" through a large number of old photos and materials in addition to 44 digital animal models, and integrating 25 site point cloud files of the Cultural Assets Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, which provides point cloud classification management for 3D model and historical sites, model introduction, community sharing, tag search and download. Cultural content creators can use these models to create 3D scenes according to their needs, and then display Taiwan’s unique aesthetics and accelerate the upgrading of content industry!
The NCHC, National Applied Research Laboratories, is responsible for the project of “Online to Offline Humanistic Computing Platform Project”. Sub-item 1: Implementation of the R&D and service plan for the online-to-offline real-time computing technology. The principal investigator is Director General Ce-Kuen Shieh of NCHC, and the executive team is the rendering technology team led by Dr. Jia-Chen Guo. From 2017 to 2020, with the technological support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Applied Research Laboratories, the project will speed up the development and application of science and technology that is injected by cultural elements, so that it will strengthen the links between industrial, university and institute circles, and stimulate the values of cultural innovation.
