To accelerate the development of generative AI applications in Taiwan and help many industries create AI solutions tailored to their needs, the National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC), under the National Institutes of Applied Research (NIAR) and the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), has launched “TAIWAN AI RAP 1” for generative AI application development. The pilot program is now underway, inviting proposals from IT service providers, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and academic institutions. Selected applicants will receive free access to GPU computing power and comprehensive AI development resources to accelerate the deployment of generative AI products and applications.
“TAIWAN AI RAP” is a high-performance AI platform established by NCHC. It integrates powerful computing resources, generative AI tools, and standardized development procedures, offering solutions such as computing support, AI development, and application deployment. Moreover, operating under a B2B model, the platform provides a flexible and efficient environment for generative AI application development, helping realize diverse AI concepts, shorten development and verification time, and ultimately create customized AI solutions for various industries.
NCHC Director General Chau-Lyan Chang said that many industries are accelerating their adoption of AI. Through TAIWAN AI RAP, the technical barriers to entry can be significantly lowered. Users are not required to invest in or maintain costly AI training infrastructure and can instead benefit from comprehensive support that includes AI tools, development frameworks, and technical resources. This allows startups, businesses and academic institutions to focus more on innovative application development, thereby enhancing efficiency and accelerating the commercialization of AI products.
The application process of the pilot program is divided into two phases. The first phase is open from today until April 24, and the second phase will run from July 7 to 16. Applications are subject to a review and selection process. Every applicant must submit a development proposal for their generative AI product or service. NIAR’s NCHC will prioritize teams with a clear vision for AI development and a strong commitment to advancing AI application development, model training, or the broader adoption of AI services. Selected teams will be granted free GPU computing power, equivalent to approximately NT$650,000 worth of compute credits on NCHC’s iService platform.
Moreover, NCHC will hold a pilot program briefing on April 18. The session will provide detailed guidance on how to participate in the selection process to gain access to free GPU computing power and a wide range of AI development resources. Outstanding previous users will also attend the event and share real-world case studies showcasing how they have leveraged TAIWAN AI RAP to bring their AI applications to life. The event aims to help aspiring teams better understand how to rapidly develop AI products using the platform. Eligible companies and organizations are encouraged to seize this opportunity and join the ranks of advancing AI application development in Taiwan.
The Features of TAIWAN AI RAP
🎯Customized Workflow Design Frontend
It integrates AI tools with streamlined workflows, offering a flexible development environment accessible even to users without technical backgrounds. It also supports rapid deployment and intuitive interface design, effectively lowering development barriers and enhancing the efficiency of AI application rollout.
🎯Multi-model API Services
It comes equipped with a variety of open-source models, including the TAIDE, Llama, and Phi series. These models enhance support for traditional Chinese applications, accelerate the development of value-added services, and meet the diverse AI needs of industries across Taiwan.
🎯Model Fine-tuning and Evaluation
It streamlines AI training and data processing in order to improve model accuracy and applicability. For example, the retail industry can leverage fine-tuning techniques to develop AI shopping assistants tailored to their brand identity, enhancing customer experience and increasing conversion rates.
🎯AI Tribes
It encourages local AI service developers to integrate their tools into TAIWAN AI RAP for proof-of-concept (POC) validation, fostering diverse AI “tribes” that drive industry innovation and collaborative growth through shared technologies and co-developed applications.
