2020 TaiPower Big Data Hackathon Starts Tonight, “National AI Team” TWCC Comes to Support

TaiPower has been continuously promoting the analysis and application of electric power big data. Besides holding Hackathon electric power open data creativity competition, or opening the power failure prediction challenge of typhoon power failure data, the first AI Big Data Electric Power Data Application Competition was also organized last year. The competition is officially started today (17th), and the “National AI Team” National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC) also introduces “ TWCC”, the Taiwan AI Supercomputer which had been listed among TOP20 of the world ranking, also comes to support.

TaiPower holds the opening ceremony of “2020 TaiPower Big Data Hackathon” today. General manager Bing-li Chung of TaiPower, Director General Shepherd Shi of NCHC, and other guests, as well as 7 official participating teams, unveils the competition of this year jointly. TaiPower says that the activity was started since July, and trans-department teams are allowed to be formed within the whole company. With the help of external experts and scholars, such as Industrial Technology Research Institute, National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University and the famous company of energy Internet of things—NextDrive, nearly a hundred people signed up. In the end, 54 people formed 7 electric power elite teams. Aiming at 7 topics, including the prediction of electric transmission line capacity, current detection and engineering security and protection monitoring, in combination with big data analysis and application, the achievements are to be published for competition in November.

According to TaiPower, with the help of NCHC, not only this competition will use the “Data Analysis Service (DAS)” launched on TWCC, but also NCHC team will provide the complete educational training and practical guidance to assist the competitors in materials collection, integration, cleaning, organization, data analysis, model establishment, and mode deployment, in order to solve the difficulty of data application by providing data flow integration and cooperation environment via DAS platform.
