NCHC near real-time world map of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now online.

Publicsh Date:2020.03.27

The COVID-19 pandemic has erupted and spread all over the world. The news shows rising confirmed cases day after day. It's not always easy to get the most current data quickly.

Using a domestic open source model and public data from Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University and Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare, the NCHC has recently built a near real-time world map of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Updated every five minutes, the website also offers diagrams of trends of confirmed cases by country, including instant information of confirmed cases in the country and the daily development trend diagram. This has enabled people to visit just one website to get a clear view of the most current information about the pandemic.

In building the near real-time world map of confirmed COVID-19 cases, we used the locally made TWCC and the three major functionalities of Virtual Compute Service (VCS) : Cloud Computing VM, Load Balancing, and Auto Scaling. With these, we don't worry about system overload or inadequate resources bringing down the system.

In these extraordinary period, the NCHC wishes to join fellow countrymen to fight against the pandemic and safeguard Taiwan.
