Welcome

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC), it is my great pleasure to welcome your participation in HPC Asia 2009!
Taiwan is also known as “Formosa” which means “Beautiful Island.” Included in Taiwan’s 21 major cities and counties are bustling metropolises like Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. Also, Taiwan’s fourth largest city, Hsinchu, has one of the highest densities of hi-tech enterprises in the entire world! Natural wonders such as Hualien County’s splendid ocean views and magnificent mountain scenery and Kaohsiung’s port views are not to be missed! This beautiful island, full of cultural, natural, and hi-tech wonders, promises a very special meeting experience in Asia!
From its inception in 1991, the NCHC's goal has been to become a HPC center of international caliber. In 2003 the NCHC officially transitioned into a non-profit organization under Taiwan's National Applied Research Laboratories (NARL). The NCHC plays a critical role in the future of Taiwan's HPC, storage, networking, and platform integration.
As the great Confucius once said, “It is a great joy to welcome friends from afar!”
We welcome you to our beautiful island and hope you enjoy our warm hospitality! I bid you all a very special and rewarding experience here in Taiwan!
We look forward to seeing you at HPC Asia 2009!
