Dr. Dan Chang Discusses "Reducing the Digital Divide" for the APEC e-Newsletter2008/07/04
The lead article in the May 2008 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) e-Newsletter, “Closing the Gap Between the Information Rich and the Information Poor,” reported on how APEC is working to help close the “digital divide” between the world’s information rich and the world’s information poor. Much of the article is based on an interview with Dr. Dan Chang of the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC). Dr. Chang is currently the APEC Telecommunications Working Group, Information and Communication Technology Development Steering Group’s (ICT DSG) convenor. Dr. Chang used this interview to highlight Taiwan’s (a.k.a. Chinese Taipei in APEC) contributions to APEC including the establishment of several APEC Digital Opportunity Centers in developing economies. This is the first time that Taiwan's unique contributions to global affairs has been represented at the 21 economic body member APEC organization.
