NCHC Open Source Labs
|
The NCHC's Open Source Labs (NOSL) devotes itself to the development and promotion of free and open source software (FOSS) under the pretense that software should be the common property of all human beings. By using the free software (meaning freedom but not necessarily without charge), we support several projects such as Grid and PC Cluster computing, Eco Grid, SARS Grid, Access Grid, and Education Grid. The NOSL also dedicates itself to developing free software such as the Penguinzilla (a DRBL system) and the Clonezilla system. The NOSL also developed a Linux Live Demo CD that introduces the public to the administration of Linux. The goal of the NOSL is to make Taiwan a software-independent country by promoting the open format. In so doing, we hope to ensure the freedom to use, copy, modify, and distribute software.
The NOSL's Goals:
- To develop a stable, safe, and user friendly open source software
- To fully support the “Challenge 2008” national project
- To promote and educate the public regarding open source software
- To encourage open source software innovation, training, and education
- To assist in establishing the open source software industry’s independence
- To help save the government money by promoting open source software.
Applications:
- Penguinzilla (a DRBL system) and Clonezilla
- ECO-Grid
- Access Grid
- PC Cluster
- SARS Grid
- Education Grid
- Linux Live Demo CD
- Free and open source software archive center
