Introduction

The mission of our Computational Biology Group is to perform R&D and to provide professional services to our science communities. Our research primarily focuses on 3D bioimage informatics, structural bioinformatics, and molecular modeling. The services we offer center around providing databases and an advanced computing environment for computational biology and life science research.

Nano-Medicine & Biochips

  • Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, drug delivery system, integrated microfluidic biochips, and cellular modeling
  • Nanoscale interaction mechanics of biological and chemical molecules
  • Design and numerical analysis of microfluidic biochip’s fast hybridization reaction for disease detection
  • Dynamic behaviors of biomolecules inside micro/nano flow-fields as applied to micro protein chips
Professional Experience:

  • Design, modeling, and simulation of Xeotron’s microfluidics biochips for genomics/peptide/SNP analysis
  • Developed a technology platform for a novel microfluidic array parallel synthesis system for the rapid production of multi-strands of high quality oligonucleotides
  • Injection, formation, and manipulation of micron-sized droplets/cells onto chip-scale devices by dielectrophoretic (DEP) force
  • Investigated adhesive mechanisms of leukocytes to substratum in the presence of shear flows
