Introduction

Research and Development is the primary focus of the NCHC. We employee over 100 of Taiwan's top R&D researchers specializing in the fields of Computer Information Systems (CIS), Engineering, Physics, Hydrological Science, Environmental Protection, Chemistry, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Molecular Science, Biotechnology, Advanced Visualization, and Solid Mechanics. Utilizing our state-of-the-art supercomputing, networking, storage, and software resources, our researchers are able to continually and consistently develop world-class applications that benefit Taiwan's local industry and academic institutions as well as those abroad. In the future, we will continue to serve our local and global communities with our long-standing tradition of R&D excellence!

Goals
The goals of our Scientific and Engineering Computation Program include:
  • Furthering the development of our science and engineering computation core technology and deepening our program applications,
  • Developing key computational technologies for local industry,
  • Promoting practical computational applications,
  • Enhancing simulation technologies, software applications, and databases,
  • Hastening the accumulation and distribution of knowledge innovation and R&D, and
  • Advancing the fields of multi-scale and modeling and simulation.
Primary Areas of R&D:

  1. Engineering Applications
  2. PC Cluster Computing
  3. Nanoscience
  4. Electro-Optical Engineering
  5. Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)
  6. Computational Biotechnology
  7. IT as Applied to Hazard Mitigation
